Writing Romance or Crime? What a To Do

For a long time I have wanted to try my hand at a different genre than Fantasy magic. I quite fancied the idea of Romance or Crime. So I set about to write a novella on Romance.

I don't really know what my writing style is about but I tend to think up one main character and a very basic plot and then I sit down and write (type). From there I let it grow and go its own way. I know that may sound a little strange, but truly, one thing tags on to another and it just gets its own autonomy. Clearly it's my own mind that's creating everything as it pops up but I don't know where it all comes from.

No, no, no my mind just could not do it. Somehow, without my permission, my story contained not only Romance but Crime also creeped in. Then, out of the blue, a Paranormal theme decided to join in aswell. So my novella will have a Criminal Romantic Paranormal theme to it.

I am very excited about it as it does involve finding some new skills I wasn't sure I had. Writing Romance doesn't come easy to me. Writing Crime is even harder as you have think really hard of the crime, the clues, the outcome etc. The Paranormal side is the easiest for me as I can simply make that up as I go along. Romance though has to create an emotion within the reader and Crime has to excite them so they don't get bored. Aaaahhhh what a task I took on. But, I'm getting there. At this point in time I've written approx 8k and I think I'm about half way through the story. So if I end up with 16k I'll be happy. I intended on this being a short story so at least I'll have stuck to that side of the plan.

Look out for little teasers on my Facebook author page I like to giveaway quotes from my books both published and non published.

Meanwhile. I'm in the first editing stages of Book 4 for the fantasy series set in the Aarabassa world. I've also been very, very lucky to welcome my first Beta reader Carol J Edholm who is a clever art & crafts artiste. Some of her work is showcased at ididitcreations.com

So now I am a team.
