Hers To Command: Verdantia Book 1
by Patricia A Knight

amazon.com/Hers-To-Command-Verdantia-ebook/

For some, existence without their mate might seem like the end of their world...
...for the members of Verdantia’s Tetriarch, it would be.

Conte Camliel Aristos deTano, Ari, has long spurned the marriage forced upon him. His contractual bride, Princess Fleur Constante, the beautiful future queen though young and inexperienced, is willing to risk everything, including her own sanity, to save her planet.

The inhabitants of the sentient planet, Verdantia, are poised on the precipice of extinction following a brutal invasion by an off-world, nomadic horde. Verdantia’s capital, Sylvan Mintoth, must have its failing energy shield restored, or the planet is doomed. The Elders know the shield can draw energy from only one thing ~ a very arduous and grueling coupling of two specific people who were pre-chosen by the planet Herself and promised by prearranged marriage contract.

Verdantia draws strength from the duo, but the sentient planet whispers to Ari that a third is necessary ~ Ari’s aide de camp, Visconte Doral deLorion, an angelically handsome, skilled assassin who silently surrendered his heart to Ari long ago.

The trio struggles to make this surprising partnership harmonious, pushing through pride, scars of past abuse, fears of inexperience and distrust. To save Verdantia, they must overcome their individual weaknesses and realize their full potential. Only the Tetriarch and their combined synergy, can harness Verdantia’s immense power to shield its citizens from invasion.

Domestic Violence Month, Jane's Story

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Author Kristie Cook (http://www.kristiecook.com/is asking us to "Share"

It's Domestic Violence Awareness Month and today I am helping Author Kristie Cook "Share the <3" by spreading awareness. Personal stories of domestic violence are everywhere, but here is one shared by the National Domestic Violence Hotline.

~ ~ ~

Jane's Story
At twenty-five, I managed a gift shop, owned my own car, established good credit and maintained a very active social life. At twenty-seven, I married a man from a small country town. Being so swept away, I ignored the other side of “Prince Charming.”  As time passed, the abuse became more frequent and more intense. Each time I found employment, he would become unbearable, including phoning me at work and yelling obscenities.
Six years of marriage took us to a rented house in the country. I was not allowed to use his car, even to take our two children to the doctor for emergency care.
February 1987, he pinned me down and began choking me. Our five-year-old son ran to the phone, dialed “0″ and cried, “My Dad’s killing my Mom, please help!” The operator traced the call and sent a county sheriff’s deputy to the house. Despite the bruises and visible marks, the police were not able to help me.
During the next year, I obtained a car and began planning my escape. He had the phone disconnected. April 1988, the abuser flew into a rage, so I took our two children and drove 15 miles to a pay phone. Every shelter I contacted was full. I had nowhere else to turn because over the years, I had become alienated from my family and friends. After walking around the grocery store for 4 hours, I returned home.
Three days later, after the abuser’s usual early morning rage, our son left for school and our three year old daughter was hiding under blankets, shivering and crying because she was so frightened of her own father. My husband left for work and I took our daughter, drove to a phone and called a domestic violence shelter. I was told to take my son out of school, pack what I could in my car, and I drove 30 miles to the nearest city.
In the three weeks my children and I were at the shelter, we began to restructure our lives. I found employment, housing, childcare, counseling and legal advice.
Because the domestic violence shelter was there, my children and I are alive.

A Festival Murder

‘I suppose your son has joined in the search?’ the stable boy asked the old woman.
Rikka was slow in body but not in mind.

‘The men search up in the mid-mountains, so I reckon he’ll be with them, but the women have already found her bloodied body, it’s horrible,’ his face contorted, reflecting the horror he felt.
Rikka feigned concern.
‘Aah, poor lass. How many suncircles was she?’
‘She was with child in her belly,’ he expressed agitated.
‘Aah, I see now.’ Rikka really did not need to hear more but the lad clearly had more to tell.
‘They say the biggest of hogs got loose and sought its revenge on our kind. She was beaten to a pulp and her child taken out and eaten.’

The Eternal Flame Series: Book One

An Element of Time by

http://www.amazon.com/An-Element-of-Time-ebook/dp/B00FDXZYIM

A vampire and a slayer walk into a bar... Sounds like the beginning of a bad joke, but for Veronica and Mackenzie, it's the beginning of the rest of their lives...

The world has seen its fair share of evil, but Veronica Chase had no idea such monsters truly existed. Werewolves, poltergeists, witches... even vampires. Ignorance was bliss. But her reality was crushed on that horrid day her family was taken away from her. Now, Veronica has devoted her entire life to hunting those very creatures, searching for the werewolf pack that murdered her parents in hopes of finding her abducted sister. Nothing will get in her way of settling the score for the hand she was unjustly dealt. That is until her newest assignment brings her to her knees.

After one hundred and eight years on earth, Mackenzie Jones thought he had seen it all. With the exception of daylight of course, but that's what comes with the territory being a vampire and all. Perpetually damned to live his life as a bartender in the shadows of the night, nothing has sparked his interest lately. Just once he wished something exciting would happen in his mundane life. Little did he know, his wish was about to come true. Walking through the door to his bar, and into his heart, Mackenzie allows love to take the wheel for the first time. There's just one slight problem. She's there to kill him.

Rafflecopter, Domestic Violence Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Author Kristie Cook (http://www.kristiecook.com/) is asking us to "Share"

1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men just in the United States have been victims of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime (Center for Disease Control statistics).

You likely know someone who lives through this nightmare every day - a relative, a friend, a co-worker or a neighbour down the street. Too many don't live. And too many children witness the violence to/between their parents - or are direct victims themselves.

Thankfully, help
is available. Unfortunately, not enough people know whom they can call for help - safely and privately. The National Domestic Violence Hotline (http://www.thehotline.org/) provides this kind of secure resource, helping survivors of abuse do what they need to do to reach safety and restart their lives. I, along with Kristie, many other authors, bloggers and readers, ask you to join us in supporting The Hotline so it may continue to provide the refuge people need. Help us "Share the <3" because "all <3's deserve to feel safe."

If you can
donate even $5 to The Hotline (https://donate.ncfv.org/NDVHKristieCook), you could be supporting one phone call that can save a life. And for each dollar you donate, you can be entered to win Kristie's Giveaway!
*Simply email your receipt(s) dated 10/1/2013 through 10/31/2013 to publisher (at) angdora (dot) com.
*There are other ways to enter, as well, in the Rafflecopter below.

You and Me Against the World (The Creepers Saga #1)

There are things worse than death.

A devastating virus has swept the world, turning humans into
ravenous monsters. Even the government's extreme measures cannot prevent its
spread and the world becomes a terror-filled nightmare.

Dr. Russell Thorn is thrust into this new world without
warning as the Creepers - the zombie-like victims of the virus - lay siege to
his home. He searches desperately for escape amidst the chilling revelation
that the Creepers are changing...growing more intelligent...evolving.

Thorn's rescue by a group of young survivors starts him on a
desperate quest to find the last safe place on earth. But the Creepers are not
the only things standing on their path to safety. It is a road filled with
horror, where the survivors will discover the limits of their own humanity and
the costs of love, loyalty, and hope in a new dead world.

Raymond Esposito
About this author

Raymond Esposito is an American novelist born in the small town of Northford, Connecticut, in 1966. As the middle son, he learned the importance of placing his own mark on the world. His parents divorced when he was in second grade, and like many "latchkey" children of the 1970s, the absence of adult supervision allowed him to discover a world of creativity and imagination. Those experiences were the inspiration for his writing, and many will appear in the forthcoming novel, The Demon.
In 1984, he attended the University of Connecticut, where, after dabbling in economics, philosophy, and English literature, he settled on a degree in psychology-people and their motivations were, after all, the thing that always fascinated him.
He began writing short stories at the age of twelve, although he never shared them. It was a passion that continued into adulthood and one fed by his love of all things horror. In 1999, he wrote his first "real" short story titled "Witches Lake." It was a campfire tale for his children. Over the next decade, he penned another thirty stories. In 2011, he began a short story titled "U & Me, against the World." It became his first published novel and is book 1 of the Creepers Saga.
Today, Raymond lives in Florida. He married the perfect women, he raised two perfect sons, and he was blessed with three beautiful stepdaughters, whom he considers the best "gift with purchase" any second marriage could provide. He also shares his castle with their 135-pound "puppy," Zeus. The two often debate the merits and drawbacks of feeding Twinkies to a dog; to date, Zeus has won all those arguments.

About the Author:
Aoife Marie Sheridan has loved reading from a very young age, starting off with mills and boon's books, given to by her grandmother her love for romances grew, by the age of 14 she had read hundreds of them.
Aoife had a passion for writing poetry or in her eyes her journal entries. It was something she did throughout her teens and into her twenties. Aoife won first place for two of her poems and had them published at a young age of just nineteen. Realising she needed to get a real job (What writing isn't) she studied accountancy and qualified working in that field for many years, until her passion for reading returned and she found Maria V Snyder. Poison study one of her favourite books has been read and re-read countless times.
Aoife's first book Eden Forest (Part one of the Saskia Trilogy) came to be after a dream of a man and woman on a black horse jumping through a wall of fire and the idea of Saskia was born. Now with her first novel published and taking first place for Eden Forest with Writers Got Talent 2013, Aoife continues to write tales of fantasy and is currently working on her third book for the Saskia Trilogy amongst other new works.

So it's now time to have a chat with Aoife. Get your cup of tea or coffee and pretend you're sitting comfy in a chair, having a cosy chit chat with our guest author. I find we can learn from each other in these Q & A sessions and love to see how other authors approach their writing careers.
Q. Are you a full time author or do you have another job aswell and if so how do either or these fit in with writing time?
A.Yes unfortunately I do have a day job, so it really doesn't give me much time to write, but every free second I have is dedicated to my first love of writing. I work in a clothing store at the moment so no it doesn’t fit into my writing at all.  I would scream if I had to write about work.
Q.Do you write on your novel daily or do you try to have days off?
A. I write when I have a spare moment, which lately is not often. The only good thing is I don’t suffer from writers block, when I sit down to write my mind is reeling, I have too much to say and not enough time to say it all.

Q. Do you ever go back to a ‘published’ book and alter it for improvement?
A. I am actually in the process of re-editing Eden Forest it’s been published since 28th of September 2012, and now I am taking a second look at it, but the changes will not alter the story it’s more of an improvement, as I have book two coming out November/December this year, so for anyone that read Eden Forest (#1) don’t worry the story is still the same.

Q. What is the most effective marketing for your books?
A. I have to say book tours, for me personally I find them very effective, or giveaways on goodreads. These two together I would highly recommend.

Q. Do you feel the sadness if you have to write a sad scene?
A. Yes some of my “sad scene’s” I would take myself back to a time where I had felt that overwhelming sense of pain, be it from a death or a friendship ending, and I would use that in my book. I often find a bit hard at times as I dig deep.

Q. Did you write as a child or did you come into your talent as an adult?
A. I wrote mostly poetry but never a novel, I read loads, but always considered an author untouchable like a movie stars, I didn’t want to reach for such a dream so I never attempted it then. It wasn't until two years ago that I started to write. At first I did it for myself.

Q. Is your book in a world like earth or is it a fantasy world?
A. It’s a fantasy world called Saskia, it’s parallel to earth, a small portion of the story is on earth, but 90% of the book is in Saskia. Saskia is set in medieval times, where a king and queen rule one area of it. Their world varies from ours yet it’s similar in ways.

Q. Do you prefer to write as a series or one off books?
A. I prefer a series. I started a new one called Hunters to be released in 2014, it started as a one off, but I can never leave it there so it will be a two part series. Once I start to form the characters and plot, I don’t want it to end.

Q. Do you like to use lots of subplots or do you think this just confuses?
A. I love using subplots and I use a lot of them, I don’t think it’s confusing if it’s done correctly and once they all are brought to light and finalized in a sense, there should be no confusion.

Q. Can you tell us a little about one of your sub plots in your latest book?
A. In Eden Forest there is a traitor amongst the King’s men. This is a subplot that runs through the whole first book, but isn’t solved completely until the second.

Q. Do you think all readers should do reviews to help the writers improve?
A. Absolutely 100% per cent. Even if the review is negative but in a constructive way it helps and a positive review gives me the drive to keep going, as I must be doing something right.

Thank you Aoife for the opportunity of chatting with you on my blog today.

13 Bites Chilling All Hallows Anthology

13 BitesIt's here TODAY. 13 Bites is now published on Amazon worldwide as a kindle version.
amazon.com/13-Bites-ebook
amazon.co.uk/13-Bites-ebook

This has been a great experience for me working with other authors. Secretly I think some of them are a wee bit nutty but you have to have a sense of humour to live the life of an author. Stamina is the key word that comes to mind.

Anyway, I digress and must return to the scary anthology of 13 Bites.  Produced by many authors, this little book will most certainly give you the chills if nothing else. Pop along to Amazon and purchase a copy because all the proceeds are going to a charity that deals with children's literature.

This weeks Featured Author is Kyra Helland (Goodreads - Paranormal, Fantasy, Dystopia & Romance Readers, Writers & Reviewers) https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/6950045.Kyra_Halland

UrdaisuniaWhy is it that every man who wants to rule this land desires you?

Urdaisunia, once the greatest civilization in the world, now lies in ruins. Rashali, a widowed Urdai peasant woman, has vowed to destroy the conquering Sazars, even if it costs her her life and everything she has.

Prince Eruzasharbat, heir to the Sazar throne, walks a dangerous line between loyalty to his own people and doing what he believes is best for all the people of Urdaisunia.

The gods, who once favored Urdaisunia above all other lands, cannot agree on who should be allowed to rule the land - the Sazars or the Urdai. While they argue, Urdaisunia and its people are dying.

Then a chance encounter between Rashali and Prince Eruz and a bet between two of the gods send peasant and prince on intertwining paths of danger, intrigue, love, and war - paths that will change their destinies, the destiny of Urdaisunia, and even the fate of the gods, forever.

Epic romantic fantasy for adults and older teens.

A Bit About Kyra Halland:

Beginning with the Prydain books by Lloyd Alexander and the Earthsea Trilogy by Ursula K. Leguin, Kyra Halland has always loved fantasy. And, beginning with those books, she has also always loved a good love story. In 1990, as a new stay-at-home mom with a young baby, she finally decided to combine those two loves - like chocolate and peanut butter! - by writing the kinds of romantic fantasy novels she wanted to read.

Courageous and complicated heroes, strong, smart, and sweet heroines, magic, romance, adventure, heroism, excursions into the dark corners of life and human nature, and a dash of offbeat humor - all of these make up Kyra Halland's worlds. Now she is pleased and excited to share those worlds with readers, and hopes that others will enjoy her worlds and stories and characters as much as she does.

Kyra Halland lives in southern Arizona. She has a very patient husband, two less-patient cats, and two young adult sons. Besides writing, she enjoys scrapbooking and anime, and she wants to be a crazy cat lady when she grows up.
